Fine, no deodorant then!
Mile 42.2 / KM 68
Campo to Mount Laguna
Song stuck in my head: Neon by someone I don't know but I love it.
I miss: Nothing at all.
Made it! I'm 2 days in to the PCT and I’m still alive. My legs hurt, my hips are bruised and i am filthy. I'm scared of my own arm pits and if I sit down for more than 3 minutes getting up becomes a problem. I saw 5 snakes so far including a good sized rattle snake making its way across the trail scaring the crap out of me. But other than that I'm happy!
It's gorgeous out here and I've already met the greatest people along the way. We walk about 18 miles a day which is the most I can do at the the moment. My pack's still heavy but it's getting lighter every day. I keep throwing out things I don't need and I'm starting to become better at judging how much water is necessary per mile. People are taping their feet like crazy because of blisters while I'm doing absolutely perfect with my shoes so far. Not a single one in sight.
But let's go back to the beginning. This all started at Scout and Frodos house in San Diego. A trail angel couple that give hikers a place to stay before they hit the trail. I spent one night there and I am glad I did. A girl went through my pack and threw out so many thing I thought were important. But she was right. For example: You only really need one shirt. You're going to sweat like crazy all day and you won't shower for 3-4 days, so putting on a new shirt or using deodorant is pointless. But that sayd I did keep 2 pairs of underwear instead of just one like she suggested. I'm not that adventurous after all. She crazy?
Yesterday night a storm rolled in and my stuff got a little wet and by the time I got to Mount Laguna I was freezing cold. Luckily the tavern there lets hikers sleep on their floor for free if the weather's bad. Burgers and Beers at the tavern it was.
