The Long Crossing

The Long Crossing

Here we go again, heading up north to Norway for a trek across the Lofoten Islands. I've been wanting to go there for years, and I can't wait to finally see the cute little towns and the most likely super insane landscapes. Hoping for good weather – otherwise, this trip is going to be absolutely miserable. (nervously laughing)

I'll start with a ferry ride from Bodø to Å, then it's time to hit the trails and explore. This trek is going to be around 190-200 km (118-124 mi), including some side trips, starting in the village of Å in the south and finishing in Delp in the north. There wasn't really a summer this year in Switzerland, so I didn't get the chance to train these noodle legs for a multi-day hike, but it'll be just fine. Nothing some ibuprofen can't fix. The total elevation gain is 9,193 m (30,161 ft). Easy peasy.

There isn't much information out there from people who have hiked the whole thing at once, but some have, and whatever they experienced is something I want to do too. It looks gorgeous. So I am basing my infos on those few blogs. But since the trail isn't too remote, I'm not worried about getting lost too badly or anything like that.

I won’t go hungry on the Long Crossing. Thankfully, there are plenty of places along the route to resupply with food and other essentials, so I won’t need to carry more than a day or two's worth of instant noodles and chocolate at a time. Same goes for water (and hopefully wine). More updates soon!

Bye for now, Dom
