Song of my day: A classic! "Little Lies" by Fleetwood Mac
I miss: My friends at home. Here's a photo of them that I carry with me on trail. It shows about half the people that mean the world to me ♡
Mom, close your eyes, you do not want to read the following.
In the past 30 hours I've summited Mount Whitney and Forester Pass and it's been 30 amazing hours. I got up at 3am and I reached to the top of the higest mountain in the U.S. at 6:40am. Hiking up Whitney was unreal and one of the highlights of this trip, only to be surpassed by summiting Forester Pass right after! I had no idea how cool Forester was going to be! It sounded so boring at first, just another pass, but then it turned out to be quite an adventure! It was steep, beautiful, snowy and at times a little tricky, so I finally got to use my axe and the spikes.
What the past 30 hours have made me descide is (and this is the part my mom won't like), that I want to get knees deep into Skitouring. It's silly that I haven't started doing that earlier while having some of the most prestige mountains in the world right in front of my door-step. So the-skitouring-dom.com will be up and running in December.
The Sierras are insanely gorgeous and I am so happy to be here. What makes the views so spectacular is knowing that you worked hard to see them and that you're the only one to see them in that particular moment. I don't think I've ever been to a more remote place than this. Getting back into civilization can be a bit of headache because of that. Getting to Independence took forever for example. Had to climb another pass to get here and looking back I would have rather skipped this town, but that would have meant carrying 9 days worth of food out of Lone Pine. That amount of food won't even fit into my vault so I had to get here to resupply for the next 6 days. On the bright side, getting into town usually means a hot shower, poached eggs on toast at a diner and laundry. My clothes are in desperate need of a wash and so am I. Independence is a tiny little town and the shower is located at Chevron Station. Yep... I shower at gas stations these days. Trucker-D putting the hammer down.
