The Great Divide Trail 2018

A walk in the park.

The GDT is the Canadian extension of the Continental Divide Trail. It is a 1,200 km (750 mile) trail that goes along the Continental Divide from Waterton Lake to Kakwa Lake, hitting some pretty amazing places along the way, including Banff and Jasper. It is a one-of-a-kind trail, unique from others in its remoteness, challenging terrain, weather, and rewarding scenery. Oh, and let us not forget about bears, cougars, wolves, and weird burly mountain people.

The GDT was a bit too crazy, and my hiking partner and I decided to quit after 10 days because it was just not safe to continue. You can read all about it in the post section. The trail is still on my mind, and one day I’ll most likely start a second attempt at thru-hiking it.
